Viva Voce Foundation, registered as Gene C. McCombs Foundation (EIN 39-3380140), runs this website. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what we do not do with it. If anything here is unclear, email jason.wilcox@vivavocefoundation.org and we will answer.
The short version
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not run advertising trackers. We never see your card number. We collect the minimum we need to send you a receipt, answer your message, and keep the records the IRS requires of a nonprofit.
What we collect, and when
When you donate
We receive your name, email address, billing address, the amount, and the date. We use it to send your receipt and acknowledgment, to keep the donation records a 501(c)(3) is required to keep, and to write to you occasionally about the foundation.
Your card details never touch this website. Payments are handled by third-party processors (such as Stripe or PayPal), who receive your payment information directly and are governed by their own privacy policies. We can see that a donation succeeded and the last few digits of the card; we cannot see the card number.
Donations made to the Living Voice Speech Arts Scholarship through Bold.org are collected by Bold.org, not by us, and are covered by Bold.org’s privacy policy.
When you contact us or apply
Our contact form collects your name, email address, and whatever you write in the message. A letter of inquiry for funding collects what you send us about your organization and your project. We use it to reply and to evaluate the request; we do not use it for anything else.
Scholarship applications are submitted and stored through Bold.org. We see applications for the purpose of selecting recipients. Bold.org’s privacy policy governs how it handles applicant data.
Automatically
Like nearly every website, our host keeps server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting, and our caching software stores pages to make the site faster. If you leave a comment on a blog post, WordPress stores what you wrote along with your IP address and browser string for spam filtering.
Who else sees it
Only the services that make the site work: our web host, our payment processors, the service that delivers our email, and Bold.org for scholarship funds and applications. Each handles your data under its own policy, and none of them receive your information for their own marketing. We will also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Donation records are kept for as long as tax and charity reporting rules require. Contact form messages and funding inquiries are kept while they are useful and deleted when they are not. Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely unless you ask us to remove them.
What you can ask us to do
Email us and we will tell you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Two limits: we cannot delete donation records we are legally required to keep, and we cannot delete data held by Bold.org or a payment processor on your behalf — for those, contact them directly, and we will help if we can.
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Using it does not affect your donation or your application.
Young people
Much of our work involves high school students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 through this website. Scholarship applicants are graduating seniors and apply through Bold.org, which sets its own age requirements. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will remove it.
Photographs
We publish photographs of scholarship recipients and events only with the permission of the people in them. If you are pictured on this site and would like the photograph removed, email us and we will take it down.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page.
